After the first visit or the first step of the Congregation (especially
of the Vice province of Asia) in Vietnam last May 5-11, 2011, we did not expect
that on this same year we could find vocations there. Although we knew that the
vocations there are flourishing like mushrooms. But four months after, this
visit was followed because there are candidates that our Claretian brothers met and
are waiting for us.
We could not delay our response to
the invitation, so on September 6- 15, I was sent by the Vice province to see
the candidates. There were three of them.
Thanks to the effort of our Claretian
brothers especially our Vietnamese brother Peter Dat who met these girls and
Fr. Gerald Kumar, an Indian priest who makes the follow up and both
accompanied me to visit their families.
We had to go by plane for 1 ½ hours
trip from Saigon and more long trips by land.
They are from the province of Ha
Tinh in the North side of Vietnam. In this place the environment of communism
is stronger since Ho Chi Minh (the father of communism in Vietnam) is from this
place.
The girls are all ready to start,
well supported by their families.
Fr. Gerry offered himself to look
after the candidates. May God bless him and the Claretian Missionaries in Vietnam.
