TERESA OF AVILA , SPAIN AUGUST 8,2011

MONASTERIO DE LA ENCARNACION DE AVILA VERY EARLY IN THE MORNING OF THE 2ND OF NOVEMBER 1535, Teresa de Ahumada arrived at this monastery. She was 20 years old. From 1535 to 1562 it was her home, which she called " great and delightt". She came here for the love she professed for the monastery, where she had a good friend. She returned in 1571 as Prioress, an office she discharge well for three years. In 1562 she founded the convent of San Jose, in Avila, the first of the Teresian Reform. She lived for thirty years in the Encarnacion in Avila. Here she went through her first interior struggles and contentions with the world; she learned to pray and to spend ineffable moments in prayers while 'many times trying to be alone with whom we know loves us." Here she planned, for the love of the church, the great work of the Reform of Carmelites. Here she began to love God and experienced raptures in sublime ecstacy of love....her feast day is celebrated on October 15. St. Teresa of Avila, PRAY FOR US.
